Context

What the system is

Industrial processes are hard to communicate to people who cannot visit the site. Video flattens it; drawings abstract it.

An exploration of how a process that is normally explained in a deck or a site visit can be explained inside a headset instead — using a mix of captured 360° media, modelled assets and guided narration.

Problem

What needed solving

Client material arrives as a mix of footage, photos, CAD-adjacent assets and written descriptions. Making that into a coherent immersive walkthrough is a pipeline problem.

  • Source material quality varies widely
  • Must be presentable on standalone hardware at an event
  • Production time has to be short enough to be commercially sensible

Architecture

How it's structured

  • 01

360° capture and existing client footage as the environmental base

  • 02

Modelled and optimised assets in Blender for the elements that need interaction

  • 03

Unity scene assembly with narration and guided sequencing

  • 04

AI-assisted steps in asset preparation and iteration

Approach

What I worked on

Pipeline over one-offs

The aim is a repeatable route from raw client material to a presentable walkthrough, not a bespoke build each time.

Guided narrative

Viewers are led through the process in sequence with narration and spatial cues, rather than dropped into a free-roam scene.

Outcome

What changed

  • A working approach for producing immersive process walkthroughs from mixed source material

Learnings

What I took from it

Production time is the real constraint in immersive content work. Anything that cannot be systematised does not survive contact with a deadline.
